At a game the Northeast Regional League a stadium announcer collapses. He later dies in hospital.
Mourning in the Regionalliga Nordost: Martin Hoffmeier, stadium announcer for FC Eilenburg, collapsed on Saturday during a home game against Greifswalder FC (0:6). He later died in hospital. The club confirmed the death of its long-time spokesman in a Facebook post. According to the club, Hoffmeier was the voice in the Ilburg Stadium for many years. “Bild” first reported his death.
Eilenburg belongs to the district of Northern Saxony and is located around 20 kilometers northeast of Leipzig. FC Eilenburg wrote on Facebook on Saturday evening: “We are stunned.” It continued: “Martin was a defining voice in our Ilburg Stadium for many years. With his style, his passion and his closeness to the club, he accompanied and helped shape FC Eilenburg. For many of us, he was much more than “just” the stadium spokesman. What happened today can hardly be put into words. Our thoughts are with his mother, his family and everyone who was close to him during this difficult time.”

Within a few minutes, numerous fans responded to the post and expressed their condolences to the family and the club.
