Miroslav Jagatic and Chemie Leipzig – that fits. But after almost six years, their time together has now come to an end.

Change of coach in the Northeast Regional League: Traditional club BSG Chemie Leipzig has separated from coach Miroslav Jagatic. The 48-year-old has to leave after almost six years at the club. The Saxons announced this on Wednesday evening. Jagatic and Chemie had slipped into the relegation battle, had the second weakest offense with 15 goals and the worst defense in the Regionalliga Nordost with 32 goals conceded.

In the last six games, Leipzig only got four points. The last three games ended with zero points and 1:10 goals. The most recent defeat in Babelsberg (1:3) led to the club management’s decision.

Uwe Thomas, one of four members of the newly formed sports management council, justified the decision with the following words: “Miroslav Jagatic has made Chemie an established regional league team and founded an era here. His services to the club are great, he has totally identified with chemistry and we are very grateful to him for what he has achieved.” However, they were of the opinion that “the team needs new impulses in this situation – also in the coaching position.”

Jagatic took over in January 2019 and led it from the Oberliga to the Regionalliga and then stabilized it there. His contract is actually valid until 2027. A week ago, the club’s sporting director, Steffen Zahlt, resigned. There were also several farewells on the supervisory board. Since Zahlt’s departure, a four-person team has taken over the sporting management. In addition to Uwe Thomas, this consists of David Bergner, Daniel Heinze and Frank Engel.
