Regé-Jean Page, beauty interview: «Perfume is a code»

“THEThis sight is incredible, isn’t it?” he tells me, looking at the bell tower of San Marco from a suite of San Clemente Palace Kempinski Venicehotel – or rather, 5-star luxury private island – where I meet him for Armani Beauty. Admiring him, rather than the Venetian Lido, brings to mind the “memes”, the social videos in which fans (millions) dream of finding themselves in his presence, that is, of “His Highness” the Duke of Hastings in Bridgerton. Little girls? Not only. The appeal of the Netflix character is transgenerational. He, Regé-Jean Page35 years old, British actor, eligible to be the next James Bond, is the new face of the Armani Code fragrance.

The series not to be missed in May: from the Bridgerton prequel to the Ferragnez

Regé-Jean Page, the interview

She is a sex symbol. The role of beauty testimonial for Armani Code must come quite easily to you, right?
«I’m not vain, however… I think that self-confidence comes from constant research, first of all into reasons why one should like oneself and then, consequently, others».

What do you like?
To question myself, to commit to something that keeps you alive, to feel alive. The art. Jazz. I went to conservatory. The most fun aspect of my job today is continuing to learn. And also the possibility of meeting new people, like you today, for example.

Oh. And in a fragrance?
I imagine it as a message at the beginning of a relationship, in the getting to know each other phase. It is a subtle form of communication, rather than charm. He should say “discover me”, without ever shouting “look at me”. It’s a bit of a access code to personality.

The Armani style, in this, is a breath of elegance.
It is proof that luxury can be the epitome of simplicity. It adds value to your expressiveness, to the way you enter the world, but it doesn’t overwhelm you.

Speaking of Code, what are your style and beauty “codes”?
I love balance, both in life, gender in people, and in what I wear. And then I believe in energies: if you exude refinement, you attract value. This is how the engagement with Armani happened: it was a dream that perhaps I unconsciously expressed to the point of benefiting him.

Does he ever break these codes?
Yes, sometimes it’s fun. But you also need style when breaking the rules. It’s nice to choose why he’s breaking them, you know what I mean?

Armani Code rewrites one of the maison’s most classic fragrances: bergamot, iris, clary sage, tonka bean and cedar wood. Rechargeable.

What do you find beautiful?
I find that something becomes beautiful when someone looks at it and feels a feeling. A painting that generates an emotion. A photo that moves you. So a person. Here, beauty exists, depending on what it arouses.

Describe it with an olfactory note.
I would say wood. Or a citrus fruit. Can I, both? I “feel” solid, but bubbly.
