The participants of Les Costumés de Venise are not professional artists, but amateurs with a passion for the famous Venetian carnival. They make their costumes, masks and hats completely themselves and take part in an event purely for their pleasure. The creative process is intensive, one of them says: “We often work with scraps of fabric, but sometimes things are going well in the papers. It remains an expensive hobby. ”
The designs are often based on historical figures. For example, one of the participants was inspired by the infamous French queen Marie-Antoinette: “Today I am Marie-Antoinette with head,” she explains. Her clothing, completely made self, reflects the style of the iconic queen. “It is Our hobby.
The sunny weather encouraged the participants to eagerly entertain the audience. For photographers who gathered around the costumés, it was a challenge to fully capture the colorful procession.
The participants visibly enjoy such events. “We like to be beautiful” it sounds. “I would prefer to be dressed like this every day. But that is of course not practical. That is why events such as these are great. ”
The parade “Regards Vénitiens” is now a fixed value on the Bruges event calendar. After the busy end -of -year period and the start of the sales, the spectacle brings a festive test to the first purchase weekend of the year. With so much interest, the question arises whether such an extra boost is still necessary, because the Bruges city center certainly does not seem to lose its bustling character.
