Housing for status holders has gained momentum in the past six months. In the summer, municipalities still lagged behind the government’s targets, but they are now ahead. Still, just over 16,000 people with a residence permit are still waiting for a house in asylum seekers’ centers.
And these people, who are allowed to stay in the Netherlands, occupy thousands of beds in asylum seekers centers. Beds that new asylum seekers urgently need. The difficult flow of status holders is one of the causes of the crisis in asylum reception.
