The eagerly awaited top game between the German record champions and BVB will be officiated by an experienced referee. He was also used in a duel between the two clubs – the game ended clearly.
Bastian Dankert will referee the top game on Saturday evening between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. The German Football Association announced this on Wednesday. For the 45-year-old referee from Rostock, it is the second appearance in the duel between the two top Bundesliga clubs.
René Rohde and Stefan Lupp are working as assistants. The fourth official is Daniel Schlager, Benjamin Brand takes on the role of video referee.
His last appearance in the classic was a few years ago: Dankert was also on the pitch on matchday 28 of the 2017/18 season – Bayern, as league leaders, won clearly 6-0.
The record under his leadership speaks clearly for the Munich team: in 24 Bundesliga games with Dankert as referee, the record champions remained undefeated (20 wins, four draws). Dortmund have so far achieved eight wins, two draws and one defeat in games under Dankert’s leadership.
