Violence against referees is not uncommon in child and amateur football. This is also shown by a current case from Hessen.

Spectators attacked a referee during a football game in Eltville (Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis). As the police said, the 42-year-old referee, according to other people from the audience, referred a player of the visiting team with a time penalty of the field in a D-youth game between Eltville and Zeilsheim shortly before the end of the game.

As a result, three male spectators of the visiting team are said to have entered the field and attacked the impartial with bumps and strokes. The assistant flag of a referee is also said to have been used as a striking tool.

After the parties were separated from other spectators, one of the perpetrators still kicked the building door of the cabin tract and damaged them. Then they fled from the sports field. According to the police, the identity of two suspect could initially be determined.

According to the police, the referee was slightly injured in the incident. There was a damage of 1,000 euros on the building door. Information on the crime is accepted by the police.
