Reetta Hurske qualified from the high hurdles final at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow.

The Tampere native’s time in the 60-meter distance was 8.00. He was fifth in his semi-final.

After his unsuccessful race, Hurske broke down in tears on Yle’s broadcast.

– Pretty bad run. There were problems with the output end. I can’t really get up to speed. That is now where hundredths are lost here, he said.

– Now such a hall season has ended. It seems that fences have not been run, but rather bounced.

Hurskee’s reign started in February with a bumpy ride, when he had an ominous fall in Torun, Poland. Aituri got a wound on his calf in the situation and had to be hospitalized.

Hurske told Yle that he felt relief at the end of the hall period.

– Now this wasn’t the kind of hall season I originally set out to pursue. This eight seconds doesn’t say anything about my condition. Healthy, both physically and mentally, we head towards the summer, he said.

The pious round was won by a Frenchman Cyréna Samba-Mayela with a time of 7.73. Also Irish Sarah Lavin advanced from the group with his own record of 7.90.

Hurske ran his season’s best 7.97 in the heats.

The final of the high hurdles will be run at 11 p.m.
