Redemption of Milan with Reggio Emilia. Sassari, Pesaro and Venice win

After the defeat in Naples, Olimpia found success again with a good Pangos. The Sardinians beat Treviso, still with zero points. Reyer beats Cremona

Matteo Lignelli-Matteo Briolini

The third day of the Serie A basketball championship opens with the victory of Milan, which roars back and does so at the Forum against Reggio Emilia (79-68). Pesaro also wins, with an excellent Tambone with 16 points and Venice, after a hard-fought match, thanks to 17 from Simms.

Milan-Reggio Emilia 79-68

Olimpia recovers from the defeat against Napoli, Reggio suffers its first defeat. Even if Milan started badly, so much so that in the 10th minute there were more turnovers (10) than points scored (9). Reggio defends great, finds the +9 and sends many men to the basket. But in the second quarter it is Olimpia that grows in defense and so the spaces increase in attack: Pangos and Mirotic dialogue, then Tonut and Melli strike for the first advantage (24-23) halfway through the second period. Until completely overturning the match at 30-23 after a run of 21-5. The impact of the young Kamagate is invaluable. On the other hand, Unahotels loses fluidity and pollutes their shooting percentages (6/30 from three), remaining without baskets for six minutes. Not even Galloway manages to close the gap before the break (34-27). The double-digit lead is a nice boost of confidence for Pangos, one of the most criticized point guards of recent times, who scores the triple to make it 43-31. In an instant Olimpia is at +16 (52-36), before being held back by the opponent’s zone. But without running any risk until the end. So Voigtmann puts a seal on it with a quarterback throw to Tonut.
Milan: Tonut 16; Poythress 14; Pangos and Mirotc 12
Reggio Emilia: Weber 16; Galloway 11; Hervey 10

SASSARI-TREVISO 80-76

At the third attempt, Banco di Sardegna broke the deadlock, with a “dirty” but necessary success, while Treviso remained at the bottom of the standings with zero points after responding blow for blow throughout the match, even if with some pauses which in the end resulted fatal. Tyree (MVP with 18 points) on his debut, and Bowman are the protagonists of a first quarter closed by Sassari who also takes a mini-break reaching 16-11. The guests, apart from one pass in the second period, never put their heads back but have the merit of always remaining close to their opponents. Five minutes from the end, at 63-63, the balance was at its maximum after a free throw by Faggian. We fight point by point until the Bank delivers the knockout blow with a 6-0 lead signed by Tyree and McKinnie (73-67). A thrust never repelled by Nutribullet, who with Bowman still has the wrong triple in hand for the possible victory with a handful of seconds to go.
Sassari: Tyree 18; Gombauld 13; Diop 11
Treviso: Bowman 18; Booker 14; Midnight and Allen 9

BRINDISI-PESARO 68-81

Pesaro wins, rising after the first 2 defeats and sinking coach Corbani’s Happy Casa Brindisi at the Pala Pentassuglia. Practice immediately went downhill for Carpegna Prosciutto, who posted a 20-0 run that cut off Brindisi’s legs, thanks to Bamforth, who finished with 21 points and Bluiett, 16 for him in the 40th minute. Brindisi tries to come back, with a counter break of 9-2, led by Morris, who however does not affect the guest’s advantage: 15-24 at 10′. The inertia of the match does not change in the second quarter, despite the offensive raids by Morris, Riismaa and Laszewski, because Vuelle, with triples from Bamforth first and then Tambone, keeps their hands firmly on the handlebars for the 30-42, with which we go to the long break. The match confirms its master even in the second 20′, every Apulian comeback attempt is nipped in the bud, Pesaro immediately reaches +15 and then keeps their opponents at a safe distance, who despite a momentary 7-0, led by Laszewski, win they find themselves at -12 at the third siren: 48-60. The fourth quarter has little to tell, Carpegna Prosciutto manages the momentary upsurge in Brindisi, represented by the plays of Mitchell and Morris without worries, finding the +15 again at 60-75, and then managing until the end.
It ends 68-81
Brindisi 16 Morris, 9 Rismaa, 8 Bayehe
Pesaro 21 Bamforth, 16 Bluiett, Tambone

VENICE- CREMONA 79-76

Venezia wins, remaining undefeated after a hard-fought match at Taliercio. Cremona starts off better, thanks to an excellent McCullogh, 13-14, in the middle of the first period, but then Parks and Tucker take the lead, with 8 and 12 points respectively at the end of the match, to give an initial breakthrough of 7 points which then directs the fourth, which ends at 28-19 for the lagoon players. The second quarter is also Venetian, the triples by Tessitori, Brown and especially Wiltjer, who sets the score at 40-27 3′ from the second siren, pave the way that leads straight to 43-33 in the 20th minute. For Vanoli’s reaction we have to wait for the third quarter, when first De Negri, then Adrian and Zegarowski, bring Cremona within 4 at 51-47 with 3′ left in the 30th minute.
It will be Golden who grabs the tie, at 53, 1′ from the third siren, but at the end of the third quarter, Venezia is ahead by 2 points 57-55 after Brown’s basket. The last 10′ saw Simms and Zegarowski as the absolute protagonists, 17 points overall for the former, 21 for the latter. The Venezia player finds the basket and fouls for 73-66, in the second half of the quarter, but Cremona’s number 3 scores first from 3 and then scores from the line: 75-72 just under 2′ from the end. After a final where Reyer is unable to close the score, Adrian makes the decisive error for Cremona from 3.
It ends 79-76.
VENICE 17 Simms, 12 Brown Jr and 12 Tucker
CREMONA 21 Zegarowski, 13 McCullough, 11 Golden
