As a referee, Hensgens attracted the attention anyway, because in the final phase he had to stop the game and, to the surprise of a full tub on his own, he disappeared to the dressing room. That turned out to be a broken pants. They could have given him a black pants from the Feyenoord bank, but Hensgens naturally wanted a KNVB pants.
The game ended chaotic, but in the first hour it did normally offer entertainment. Feyenoord was a lot to keep the lead. One of the requirements that Robin van Persie sets for his team is that the initiative must be taken under almost all circumstances and certainly in his own Kuip. His players left no misunderstanding about that in the first half against his old team of Heerenveen.
Hadj Moussa excels out
Van Persie had also formed a midfield that contains creativity and energy. Quinten Timber as a driver, Luciano Valente to the delight of the supporters in the base as a man with surprises and Sem Steijn as the walking wonder behind the attack. They mainly had to serve the offside players Anis Hadj Moussa and Leo Sauer to eventually besiege the goal of Heerenveen-keeper Bernt Klaverboer.
Well, Klaverboer literally had his gloves full. Hadj Moussa ramed early on, the striker Ayase Ueda, so strongly started this season, headed five meters hard on the goal and also saw his bet turned by the goalkeeper of the Frisians. But twice before the break, Klaverboer had to capitulate in the dream attacks of the home club. Thanks to the sharp VAR, it only yielded one goal for Feyenoord. After a nice pass van Valente, Hadj Moussa shot through the heart of the defense and a transfer of Givairo Read the 1-0 and he thought he would deliver the assist for the first goal of Leo Sauer this season.
Offside
But the VAR does not take into account the beauty of a goal. A velvet movement preceded the Algerian wing in advance, but then he was already a few centimeters offside.
The fact that the trio Timber, Valente and Steijn was in midfield also had to do with the somewhat longer absence of the Korean Inbeom Hwang and the Polish International Jakub Moder. For both experienced players, the game with the Frisians came too early. At the catching -up match with Fortuna Sittard, again in De Kuip next Wednesday, it will not be a neck shop yet. But towards the first European match in Portugal against SC Braga, it is necessary to have that duo on board.
Hadj Moussa sees red
After the break, Valente again left his mark on the game of the Rotterdammers. After a Rush over 40 meters, he saw Steijn standing completely free on the edge of the Staff Staff area and it was served to size by him. Steijn almost counted his goal, but saw how Klaverboer could get a hand in the corner.
Hadj Moussa increased the pressure and immediately afterwards also forced Klaverboer into a rescue. But that would immediately be his last positive contribution to the competition. Hadj Moussa kicked Zagaritis from behind in a duel Heerenveen-Linksback Vasilios and that was the arbitrator Robin Hensgens initially with a yellow print. Until the Var nevertheless sent him a look at the screen. Hup, red card. End of match for Hadj Moussa.
Again not a captain’s tire for Timber
Van Persie did not decided to defend the last half hour afterwards. He just threw in a winger again (at the expense of his captain Steijn) and had the very young Aymen Sliti occupied the right wing. A defender was added, but Bart Nieuwkoop only replaced another defender: Givairo Read.
The most striking thing about the entrance to Nieuwkoop was that he immediately got the captain’s band around his arm. With Steijn, the first captain had disappeared, with the red card for Hajj Moussa the second leader and with Read his third man to wear the band. Timber was still in the field, but Van Persie can just stay the ‘football leader’ …
Van Persie finds a red card for Hadj Moussa unjustified
Feyenoord trainer Van Persie found the red card that his attacker Hadj Moussa was not justified in the home game against SC Heerenveen (1-0). He said that afterwards in an interview with ESPN.
Referee Robin Hensgens punished Hadj Moussa for a foul on the ankle of Vasilios Zagaritis initially with yellow. That card was converted into red after the VAR intervention. “If you stop the image here, it looks worse,” says Van Persie. “Hadj Moussa, as it were, puts down on him. If you have played football, you know that you will go to the ground sideways in such an action. He touches him sideways on his standing leg. That was not very happy.”
Until that red card, Feyenoord had the game under control, Van Persie said. “We played well, got enough opportunities and gave nothing away. It looked good from our side,” said the coach. “After that red card it became chaotic and it was like before on the square: everyone’s own husband and the beech in it.”
With 12 points from four duels, Feyenoord is the leader. Van Persie: “And we only have one goal against. I am very satisfied with that.”
