Red Bull is starting the US Grand Prix in Austin with a special livery: the RB19 is getting a special design for the race, which is reminiscent of the Texas ‘Lone Star’ flag, among other things. The livery was designed by a fan as part of the ‘Make Your Mark’ campaign, which includes a special design for all three US races in Miami, Austin and Las Vegas.

As a reminder: In Miami, the RB19 of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez was painted with pink and blue-green accents. For the upcoming Grand Prix in Austin, the Texas flag was incorporated into the existing design of the current world champion car.

The concept comes from Franco Cavallone, a 39-year-old graphic designer from Argentina. His design beat out more than 2,000 other proposals. “The moment I found out I had won was a rollercoaster of emotions, I’m so happy,” said Cavalone, who will be present at the US Grand Prix as a guest of Red Bull.

Horner: “The car looks incredibly good”

Cavallone became aware of Red Bull’s campaign as a visitor to the Miami GP. The Argentinean began implementing his idea in his hotel room: “I thought about Austin and the Circuit of the Americas and was inspired by the stripes and stars and the curved red-white-blue lines around the curves of the track,” reveals the 39-year-old.

“It’s like a dream that this is happening to me. Seeing my design on the car will be the best day ever, I can’t wait to see it on the track too,” beams Cavallone. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner added: “It’s really exciting to see this unique fan-led competition come to life and coincide with the growth of Formula 1 and our fans in the USA.”

“Franco did an excellent job, the car looks incredible and shows the Texas colors and culture,” said Horner. “It’s not every day that we drive with a special livery, so it’s even nicer that it was designed by our fans.”

“Our hunger for wins continues for the rest of the season and we hope that this livery will be as successful as Martina’s in Miami,” reminds Horner. In the first of the three USA races this year, Verstappen and Perez celebrated a one-two victory.
