At TSV 1860 Munich it is once again about financial survival. According to information from BR24Sport, the coming season is currently not financially secure. The third division club is threatened with license revocation and forced relegation to the regional league.
TSV 1860 Munich actually wanted to celebrate its 60th anniversary of the 1966 championship, but other things are currently plaguing the traditional club. The third division soccer team is worried about its license for the coming season. As “Bild” reports, the Lions have to prove their liquidity to the German Football Association (DFB) by June 3rd with a sum of 2.7 million euros. Otherwise, the traditional club is threatened with falling into the regional league.
BR24Sport also has information that the coming season is not financially secure. In the past, the controversial investor Hasan Ismaik had always made up for deficits. So far it seems questionable whether he will step in again after the failed sale of his shares last summer.
Ismaik cancels loan – 1860 can no longer pay salaries
According to the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”, Ismaik is said to have terminated the loan agreements at short notice due to management’s alleged violations of reporting obligations. The “SZ” has received a corresponding letter. According to “SZ”, Manfred Paula, managing director of the professional football KGaA, is planning to take legal action against the loan termination and rejected the allegations. He explained the dramatic effects of the events: “We reject the termination as ineffective. Due to the termination and the demands made, we can no longer assume that there will be full financing and are switching to emergency management as a precautionary measure. We cannot make any payments until further notice, including salary payments.”
Hitzlsperger as a savior?
Rumors have been circulating for some time that a group of investors led by former national player Thomas Hitzlsperger was interested in getting involved.
The former National player confirmed in Blickpunkt Sport on BR television that there were corresponding discussions. “The interest is there,” said Hitzlsperger. “We’ve already spoken to a lot of people – from the club, but also from Hasan Ismaik’s representatives. I can say one thing: no matter who we were dealing with, those were constructive conversations. I can only say good things about that.” Nevertheless, Hitzlsperger is aware “that at sixty, as they currently stand, there is not cooperation on all levels, that it is very, very complicated.”
Another forced relegation to the Bavarian Regional League is imminent
The fact is: TSV 1860 has been living at its financial limits for years. The dependency on Ismaik is high. But without financial commitments, there is a risk of license refusal and another forced relegation to the regional league – like in 2017: After the sporting relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga, 1860 was unable to meet the economic requirements for the 3rd league. The result was the refusal of the license and the forced relegation to the Bavarian Regional League.
The DFB was not ready to comment to BR24Sport.
