In an emotional statement, he told the judge how his life had changed, after he had put all his savings in the chalet. “What happened to me is downright cruel,” he told at the time in court. That the judge has now ruled that he must be compensated for him is a plaster on a whole sore wound.
Yet Satyam finds it difficult to talk about the issue. “I have to let it all sink in,” he says by telephone after the judgment of the Court of Appeal. “It is very nice that the judge listened to my story, but I would rather have seen that he had stated in the statement that I will get all my money back. Despite the statement, the holidaymakers remain hopeful that they will ever return to their familiar family campsite. According to Esther Limonard van Durf, the owner must be deep in the pouch to compensate all campers. “That is about tons, I don’t think he has that money at all. As long as he does not pay, we will not leave.”
Limonard quietly hopes that the municipality of Koggenland will intervene. He has already established a pre -emptive right on the camping site. The owner is then obliged to first offer the land to the municipality for sale. “We hope that the municipality wants to buy it and that we as recreational users may operate the campsite. This statement gives a boost to fight further.”
