Record purchase Jeff Reine-Adélaïde is moving from Olympique Lyon to RWD Molenbeek

Fourth deal from OL to Belgium

Jeff Reine-Adélaïde has finally closed the Olympique Lyon chapter. The 25-year-old midfielder, who came from Angers SCO in the summer of 2019 for the club’s record sum of 25 million euros, is moving to RWD Molenbeek in Belgium on a free transfer despite a valid contract with the Ligue 1 club. In the event of a resale, there is a financial participation of 40 percent.

Lyon officially announced the departure of Reine-Adélaïde on Wednesday night, which is Deadline Day in Belgium. The right foot had only played a subordinate role for years after tearing his cruciate ligament twice in his debut season 2019/20 and the year after and was unable to continue his old performance.

Most recently, Reine-Adélaïde had tried out on loan at OGC Nice and ESTAC Troyes, and now he should find his way back to his old strength with the newly promoted player in the Jupiler Pro League. It is no coincidence that the new employer is Molenbeek. Like Lyon, the club is owned by US businessman John Textor and his holding company Eagle Football, which also owns Crystal Palace and Botafogo Rio de Janeiro. Reine-Adélaïde is already the fourth signing of OL this summer (overview).
