Munich (dpa) – The German soccer record champion Bayern Munich is going on a US tour for the fifth time before the start of the upcoming Bundesliga season.
Coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team will be in America from July 18th to 24th and will also play two games there. The club will play Major League Soccer’s DC United Washington on July 20, the club announced. The second opponent has not yet been determined.
Dubbed the “Summer Tour”, the trip is a marketing measure with which the club wants to present the FC Bayern brand globally. Altogether it is the seventh trip under the name “Summer Tour”. FC Bayern visited the USA alone in 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2019. In the past two years, travel has not been possible due to the coronavirus pandemic.
