The FC Bayern men play in the Allianz Arena, the women and juniors in the stadium on the Bayern Campus. But the latter could soon change.
FC Bayern Munich is apparently about to take the next big step in its infrastructure planning. According to information from “Bild”, the club is currently negotiating the purchase of the Unterhaching sports park – and the discussions are said to be well advanced.
The record champions have been playing in the Allianz Arena since 2005, and the Bayern Campus was opened for the young and women’s teams in 2017. But with only 2,500 seats, the campus stadium is too small for ambitious games in the women’s Bundesliga or top-class youth encounters.
Now, according to “Bild”, the sports park in Unterhaching is coming into focus. The stadium has space for around 15,000 spectators. The arena was the Bundesliga venue for SpVgg Unterhaching from 1999 to 2002 and is also currently the home of today’s regional league team. According to the report, the purchase price should be around 7.5 million euros.
President Manfred Schwabl himself tried for years to agree on a purchase with the city, but was unsuccessful. There has been a youth cooperation between the two clubs for around a year. Should the purchase take place, Unterhaching could remain as a tenant in the stadium. A solution that could benefit both sides.
FC Bayern’s women recently attracted attention with record attendance at the Allianz Arena.
