Curious personnel at the German record champions: Apparently, FC Bayern has also tied the driver of newcomer Sadio Mané to itself.
Is this Bayern Munich’s most unusual “transfer” this season? “Sky” reports, citing the Senegalese sports portal “Taggat”: The German record champion has signed Desire Segbe Azankpo. The 29-year-old from Benin will therefore be used for two years at FC Bayern II in the regional league.
The special thing about it: Azankpo is a close friend of Bayern new signing Sadio Mané – and in his early days in Munich I always drove the attacker to appointments and also to training. Now he will apparently wear the Bayern jersey himself and will be on the pitch for coach Martin Demichelis’ second team.
Azankpo has been without a club since the summer, most recently played for USL Dunkerque in the third French league, before that he was a real migratory bird and also played in Romania, England, Slovakia and Luxembourg. In addition, the attacker completed 15 international matches for Benin.
It is not known whether the Azankpo deal was in any way caused by Mané’s change and whether it was even part of the contract with the superstar.
