The German basketball world champions appeared to the fans in Frankfurt on Tuesday morning around an hour late. The team led by captain and NBA superstar Dennis Schröder, which sensationally won the World Cup title in the final against Serbia on Sunday, entered a stage at the headquarters of the main sponsor at around 10.30 a.m. and was welcomed there by Frankfurt’s mayor Mike Josef (SPD). .
Cup gets stuck at the airport
“You made history. Thank you for making us proud,” said Josef. Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) also said a few words to the newly crowned world champions and congratulated them on an extraordinary performance. The team had already been welcomed at the airport by Prime Minister Boris Rhein (CDU).
The reason for the delayed start was apparently problems with the cup at the airport. The trophy initially did not make it through the numerous security checks. Only after the checks had been successfully passed could the tour group make its way to the city center.
Around 1,500 fans on site
