Rebel Wilson has claimed that her contract with the Pitch Perfect series of films banned her from losing weight. In the film comedy she embodied the role of “Fat Amy”.

The 42-year-old opened up about her weight loss on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast. She waited until filming was complete and then started. “I couldn’t lose a lot of weight because it was in the contracts for this film,” the actress said. She signed that she is maintaining her weight. “You weren’t allowed to lose weight – I don’t think it was more than 4.5 kilograms that you were allowed to lose or gain.”

Wilson added: “I’ve thought for a long time about wanting to be healthier. But I was pushed into the role of the fat, funny girlfriend.” She loves these roles and the characters she impersonated, but she wanted to “do more”. “I had the feeling that as a fat girl you are just more pigeonholed.”

The first film of the “Pitch Perfect” trilogy was released in 2012, five years later the last part was released in cinemas. In 2020, the actress started a diet program. In addition to physical health, she also wants to work on her mental well-being: “It’s not like I want to lose weight and get to a certain number. It’s more than that. It’s about mentally dealing with why I ate too much.”
