Ligament injury and forced stoppage for Real Madrid’s French striker, who could miss 4 or 5 games and return at the end of January

Kylian Mbappé’s record-breaking 2025 ends badly. After scoring his 59th goal of 2025 for Real Madrid against Sevilla last December 20th (66 goals in a calendar year if we also consider those with the French national team), the striker today underwent an MRI, which highlighted a knee ligament injury that will require at least 3 weeks out. Mbappe; who up to now had only missed the match against Manchester City in the Champions League on 10 December, will therefore be absent for the home matches against Betis and Levante in La Liga, for the Super Cup semi-final against Atletico Madrid (and the eventual final) and for the Champions League match against Monaco. He could return on January 25th for the match at Villarreal.
