Karim Benzema will leave Real Madrid on a free transfer after 14 years at the end of the season. This was officially announced by the “Royal” on Sunday. Since joining Real in the summer of 2009 from Olympique Lyon for €35m, Benzema has contributed 353 goals and 165 assists in 647 games and won 24 titles, including five Champions Leagues.
“Real Madrid want to show their gratitude and affection to the man who is already one of our greatest legends,” Los Blancos wrote in a club statement. “Karim Benzema’s career at Real Madrid is an example of attitude and professionalism and represents the values of our club. Karim Benzema has earned the right to decide his future.”
