Past: FC Noah – AZ 1-0

AZ must try to polish away the damage suffered next week. The return is in Alkmaar on Thursday at 9 p.m. If there is a tie over two games, extra time will follow with possible penalties.

Next Sunday, the Alkmaarders will play in the Premier League against Sparta Rotterdam at 4:45 PM. The match can be followed live via NH Radio and via a new live blog. See you then!

Five minutes are added in Armenia. Can AZ still manage to produce the equalizer?

AZ’s equalizer is almost here. Troy Parrott hits the ball over the keeper and the ball then hits the post. However, the Irish striker is hit hard in the box, but nothing is done about it. Mexx Meerdink completely misses the rebound.

AZ is busy increasing the pressure towards FC Noah’s goal. With many players in the center and around the box it is difficult to play football through it. What can AZ do in the remaining minutes?

That’s all going just fine. Goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet gets Kasper Boogaard into trouble, gets the ball back, but under pressure the goalkeeper gives up the ball and goes down. It then fizzles out.

Out of nowhere, Troy Parrott gets an opportunity. The keeper is wrong and the AZ striker has to act quickly and sees his roller hit the outside of the post. Not an easy ball, but almost the equalizer.

AZ is going to switch. Sven Mijnans and Isak Jensen leave the field and Kees Smit and Mexx Meerdink take their place. It was communicated in advance that Mijnans would play 55 minutes.

AZ trailing against FC Noah. A nice long shot from Hovhannes Hambardzumyan sails into the far top corner and goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet is left without the answer.

The Alkmaarders come out of the dressing room quite well. The second half started with more attacking intentions. The game is mainly played in FC Noah’s half and several times there were players waiting for a cross that did not come from Ro-Zangelo Daal.

The second half has started. AZ came out of the dressing room with the same eleven names.

Just before half time, FC Noah gets a great chance. Jeroen Zoet taps away Mulahusejnovic’s dangerous header just before the line. It made very little difference whether AZ would have been behind.

AZ’s football leaves much to be desired. The visitors make a lot of mistakes in possession of the ball and find it difficult to create opportunities. Typical is a simple pass from Kasper Boogaard that comes far behind Mees de Wit and goes over the sideline…

FC Noah has two dangerous moments in a row. Elijah Dijkstra blocks a shot and the home team is dangerous from the corner. Mulahusejnovic’s header goes wide of the goal. Goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet does not have to take action.

AZ doesn’t look good at the back. First Mees de Wit makes a mistake and then Wouter Goes does not process a cross well. Sangaré shoots very quickly, causing the ball to go wide.

AZ tries to pass the ball around, but that is not easy on the field. Every now and then the ball bounces. It is not yet a high-quality opening phase for either team.

AZ is the parent party in the opening phase. It has a lot of ball possession and Mees de Wit creates the first danger. His long shot goes through the leg of an opponent and into the hands of the goalkeeper.

The match between FC Noah and AZ has started. The home team has started the match.

It is his European debut for trainer Leeroy Echteld. After the dismissal of Maarten Martens, Echteld is ultimately responsible for the Alkmaarders. He has never coached a European match before. As assistant coach of the Dutch Juniors, he saw many international matches up close.

AZ meets a relatively new club with FC Noah. FC Noah was founded in 2017. Last season it won the double in Armenia. In the competition phase of the Conference League, it took a total of eight points. Currently it is number five in Armenia.

AZ and FC Noah will compete against each other in the interim round of the Conference League. After the competition phase, numbers 9 to 24 play an intermediate round. If you win, the eighth final awaits.

The Alkmaarders finished in 14th place in the competition phase with 10 points from 6 games. FC Noah achieved 2 points less and finished in 19th place.

AZ won against Slovan Bratislava (1-0), Shelbourne FC (2-0) and FC Drita (0-3), it drew against Jagiellonia Bialystok (0-0) and lost to AEK Larnaca (4-0) and Crystal Palace (3-1).
