Past: Go Ahead Eagles – AZ 0-0

After a corner kick, the ball hangs in front of AZ’s goal for a long time. After several attempts by Go Ahead, goalkeeper Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro has the ball in his hands.

The stoppage time is five minutes. Will there be another winner? Or better said: will there be another goal?

Lots of whistling when Wouter Goes enters the lines. The Eagles audience does not have a high opinion of AZ’s central defender. Last year in the cup final, the AZ defender had a negative leading role.

Another nice opportunity for AZ. This time it is Kees Smit who appears on the left in front of the goal. The midfielder pulls the trigger and shoots at the goalkeeper’s fists.

AZ has the most claim to the opening goal in this match. The Alkmaarders are close via Isak Jensen, because his free kick just goes over the goal of Go Ahead Eagles.

Weslley Patati fires the first shot of the second half. The Brazilian winger is busy tonight and shoots from outside the box. Goalkeeper Jari de Busser saves for Go Ahead Eagles.

Go Ahead Eagles have kicked off for the start of the second half. Both teams have remained unchanged.

AZ also gets a great chance towards half time. Weslley Patati starts walking with the ball and he serves Mexx Meerdink. The AZ striker shoots from the turn, after which goalkeeper Jari de Busser saves. Moments later, a long shot from Mateo Chavez flies just past the goal.

Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro lets a high ball slip out of his hands due to Stefan Sigardarson, after which it ends up in the goal. Referee Jeroen Manschot disallows the goal because the striker jumps into the arms of the AZ goalkeeper.

Weslley Patati receives the ball after a good interception from Sven Mijnans. AZ’s Brazilian winger pulls the trigger outside the box and forces goalkeeper Jari de Busser to make a save with his fingertips.

AZ’s prolonged possession of the ball eventually led to a shot by Matej Sin. The Czech midfielder shoots over from outside the box after a nice heel from Isak Jensen.

AZ is pushed back by Go Ahead Eagles in the opening phase. The home team has already taken a few corner kicks, but there is no immediate danger. AZ tries to strike on the counter, but a hard shot from Mexx Meerdink flies wide.

AZ started the match with Mateo Chavez. Mees de Wit was initially on the scoresheet, but he suffered an ankle injury in the warm-up. The left back, who scored the opening goal in the cup final, is therefore on the bench.

AZ has kicked off in the Adelaarshorst in Deventer for the match against Go Ahead Eagles.

AZ is assured of European football thanks to the cup win. The Alkmaarders have secured a ticket for the group stage of the Europa League. That is one level higher than the Conference League, in which it was eliminated in the quarter-finals last week.

Only if AZ finishes second or third does it have a better ticket. This entitles you to Champions League or Champions League preliminary round respectively. AZ is currently sixth and has six points less than NEC (3rd) and seven points less than Feyenoord (2nd).

The match is a repeat of last season’s cup final. AZ then lost to Go Ahead Eagles on penalties. The Deventers then played in the Europa League. The poster followed again shortly after the cup final on the Adelaarshorst. AZ then won 0-3 and Wouter Goes received a red card.

AZ will play against Go Ahead Eagles in the Premier League at 6:45 PM.
