Ajax will be involved in the draw for the last sixteen of the cup on Friday. Telstar and AZ are also through. FC Volendam can join them tomorrow by winning against the amateurs of Genemuiden.
In the final phase, Excelsior Maassluis still gets a decent chance for the third goal. The ball is placed neatly wide, but Tavares slips, allowing Remko Pasveer to pick up the ball.

Ajax continues to look for more goals. Mika Godts serves Jorthy Mokio and he shoots the ball low over the ground, but the goalkeeper grabs the ball. Excelsior Maassluis has difficulty getting out of its own half.
There’s almost the fourth. Mika Godts shoots the ball hard against the post. The Ajax winger makes frequent appearances in the match.
It’s going very fast! Don-Angelo Konadu puts the 0-3 for Ajax on the scoreboard against Excelsior Maassluis. A nice step by Davy Klaassen preceded the young striker’s goal.
There is the second goal for Ajax! Anton Gaaei steams up the right side and shoots the ball hard and low into the far corner. Ajax quickly rose to fame against the amateurs of Excelsior Maassluis.

Mika Godts with a good action on the left. He pulls the ball forward with a sliding slide and Owen Wijndal shoots the opening goal for Ajax against the ropes.
A cautious opening phase from both sides. Ajax has a lot of the ball, but has not yet fired a shot towards the goal. Excelsior Maassluis is waiting for a counter.
After half a minute of play, the game stops for a moment. Plank bumps into Rayane Bounida and has a nosebleed. The Excelsior Maassluis player is now back in action.

Ajax has been in good form in recent weeks. Under coach Fred Grim, the last four games have all been won. Feyenoord, Fortuna Sittard and FC Groningen were defeated in the competition and Ajax also beat Qarabag in the Champions League.
For Ajax it is the first match in the cup tournament of the 2025/26 season. Last year the adventure ended in the eighth finals. AZ won 2-0 in Alkmaar. In 2022 and 2023, Ajax reached the final, but lost to PSV in both editions.
Ajax’s last cup win dates back to the 2020/21 season. Vitesse was defeated 2-1 in the final thanks to goals from Ryan Gravenberch and David Neres.
Ajax previously played in the cup against Excelsior Maassluis. In the 2021/22 season, the Amsterdam team won 9-0. Danilo scored four goals that evening in the Johan Cruijff Arena. Mohamed Daramy (2), Nico Tagliafico, Youri Regeer and Kristian Hlynsson were the other goalscorers.
