“It’s unbelievable. I’m incredibly happy. I’m incredibly grateful for the boys and the hard work we’ve put in over the last few weeks and months. And also incredibly proud of myself and the team,” said Stettmer.
“At the end of the day we are German champions and it doesn’t matter how clear or unclear we made it. In the end, the result counts and we won and that is the most important thing for me,” the goalie continued.
In addition to winning the championship, the 24-year-old was also given an individual honor: Stettmer received the award as Most Valuable Player (MVP), i.e. the most valuable individual player, in this year’s DEL playoffs.
Meanwhile, Andreas Eder, who was thinking about his moment of happiness, had a particularly emotional evening Brother Tobias died of cancer last year remembered, whose name was chanted by the Eisbären fans who had traveled with him in Mannheim.
