The RB Leipzig captain is currently working on her comeback after a torn cruciate ligament. But Giovanna Hoffmann also has plans for the time after her football career.

DFB player Giovanna Hoffmann is aiming for a legal career. After her career in football, she wants to complete her second state examination – and then take the right path. But first she still needs the traineeship.

“So far I’ve been pretty sure that I wanted to become a judge or prosecutor,” said the 26-year-old on the sidelines of the Women’s European Championship in the summer. “But maybe I’ll get a different insight into what suits me during my traineeship.”

In order to work in a legal profession, the second state examination is absolutely necessary, she added. She completed her studies from 2016 to 2021, initially parallel to competitive sports.

During her time at SC Freiburg (2020 to 2024), she also worked at the chair for criminal law. “Now I’m still missing the traineeship. Unfortunately, that’s not possible with football at the moment, so I’ve just taken a break,” said Hoffmann. In the long term, she definitely wants to complete it. Vocational training is guaranteed in any case.
