A day after her resuscitation, the person who collapsed at the entrance to the stadium of Bundesliga soccer club RB Leipzig before the Saxon round of 16 died in a hospital. The club announced on Thursday afternoon.

The people of Leipzig did not provide any further information on the circumstances, but expressed “our condolences and sympathy” to “relatives and friends” of the deceased.

The fan collapsed at the entrance to the Leipzig Arena before the cup defender’s cup match against TSG Hoffenheim (3-1). “A person had to be resuscitated at the entrance to the stadium before the game, was treated by an emergency doctor and taken to the hospital,” Leipzig said shortly afterwards about the “medical emergency”.

As a sign of solidarity with the struggling fan, the supporters of the hosts largely refrained from loud support during the game. Only at the goals and at the final whistle did cheering erupt for a short time.
