RB Leipzig strong at the VBL start in FIFA 23

The FIFA pros from RB Leipzig dominated the start of the south-east division of the Virtual Bundesliga Club Championship. The defending champions won both best-of-three series in their first two games.

It could be the Leipzig recipe for success of the season: get the doubles match and then world champion Umut “RLBZ_Umut” Gültekin closes the sack in singles. First FC Nuremberg (2:0; 5:3) bit their teeth out at Rebelz, then Leipzig also won the featured match against SSV Jahn Regensburg (2:1; 4:1).

With six points, Leipzig went to the top of the table, level on points with Karlsruher SC. “I found the old system a bit better because you could win more points,” said Umut in the winner’s interview about the new VBL points system.

Last season, three matches were played in each encounter, in which a total of nine points were up for grabs. This season there are only three points for the overall victory. “But in the end it doesn’t matter because we want to win all the games,” continued Umut. “And if we can do that, we’ll be champions again.”
