RB Leipzig has recovered strongly after the poor previous season and is currently in second place in the Bundesliga table after ten match days. In order to further strengthen his squad, Bayern’s number one pursuer is now said to have also set his sights on a former Munich player.
According to Turkish transfer expert Ekrem Konur, RB Leipzig is interested in Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutchman made his breakthrough at FC Bayern around five years ago, scoring a total of four goals in twelve Bundesliga appearances for the German industry leader.
After a total of three loan spells at Parma Calcio, RSC Anderlecht and FC Bologna, he moved to Manchester United in the summer of 2024, where he was never really able to assert himself.
In the current season, Zirkzee has been completely sidelined by the Red Devils. So far this Premier League season he has made just four short appearances as a substitute and has only played 86 minutes in the English championship.
Numerous clubs are probably in the running for Zirkzee
In order not to reduce his chances of being nominated for the Dutch World Cup squad next year, he should now aim to escape from Manchester in the winter.
According to transfer expert Konur, RB Leipzig is now one of the clubs that could be considered for a loan deal or even a permanent transfer for the 24-year-old. In addition to the Saxons, other top European teams such as AS Roma, AC Milan, West Ham United, FC Sevilla and AS Monaco are also mentioned as potential buyers for the center forward.
A possible base fee for Zirkzee, who has a valid contract with Man United until 2029, is 30 to 35 million euros. The attacker has scored seven goals for Manchester United across all competitions.
