RB Leipzig | Before the Bundesliga clash at FC Bayern: RB star explains explosion in performance

The cracking game of matchday 23 will take place in Munich’s Allianz Arena on Saturday evening, when FC Bayern host RB Leipzig from 6:30 p.m. For the Saxons, Benjamin Sesko is hoping to be in the starting eleven again for his colors.

The offensive jewel moved from Red Bull Salzburg to the cup winner in the summer of 2023 and immediately created huge expectations in Leipzig due to his 24 million euro transfer fee.

In the first half of the season, however, the young Slovenian was hardly able to fulfill this goal and was only able to get on the top scorer list on two of the 17 matchdays in the first half of the season.

Things have been going much better for Sesko since this year. Not only that the 20-year-old was in the RB starting line-up in five of the six matches this year. With three goals and many other strong offensive moves, he is also playing noticeably better for the Red Bulls.

“I know it’s important to be patient. That’s why I gave myself time to develop. I also admit: I needed some time for my body and mind to get used to the new level. Now I am I’ve almost completely arrived – my self-confidence increases and increases the more playing time I have,” Sesko explained to “Sport Bild” about his development with the Champions League participants.

Sesko commented on transfer rumors

Head coach Marco Rose also has a special meaning, the 1.93 m giant revealed: “He took me to another level and taught me how important it is to receive the ball, that I have to press and always be greedy for goals must. He gave me the tip: Think about goals, imagine them in your head!”

For the third time in the current season, Sesko and his Red Bulls will now face the German record champions from Munich. After the center forward was recently repeatedly compared to Bayern superstar Harry Kane, the youngster himself clearly waved it off when asked: “I don’t want to compare myself with Kane. His goal rate over the past few years speaks for itself. He’s a really great one !”

After his three goals in the spring against Stuttgart, Union Berlin and Augsburg, speculation increased that Sesko could leave RB Leipzig for the English Premier League or Spanish LaLiga this summer. Regarding the rumors that have arisen, the goalscorer said: “I’m playing for a team that suits my style of play and I want to continue to improve. […] I want to spend a lot of time here because the club suits me well. We’ll see how many years it will be in total.”
