When Antonio Nusa (24′) tried, the fingertips of national goalkeeper Alexander Nübel prevented Leipzig from taking the lead, Assan Ouédraogo (30′) aimed too centrally, Rômulo (33′, 41′) narrowly missed the goal after impressive combinations. An own goal broke the spell: a sharp cross from Diomandé sent Chabot unluckily over the line.
Leipzig carried the momentum of the first half into the second half and quickly increased. Diomandé was too hesitantly disturbed in the penalty area. Stuttgart fought back, but could hardly find a way through the RB defense. Only a long pass from their own half to Tiago Tomás fooled Leipzig’s defense.
Rômulo initially missed the third RB goal with his head, but Nübel made a strong save (81′). It wasn’t until stoppage time that the Brazilian scored after a Nübel mistake.
