Amadou Haidara will leave RB Leipzig and the midfielder’s future employer is now almost certain. According to “Sky”, RC Lens has been awarded the contract and has already reached an agreement with the 27-year-old. Transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano also reported on it a short time later and wrote of a negotiated contract until 2029.

The first parts of the medical check have already been completed, but a complete agreement between the clubs is still pending. Despite the working paper expiring in the summer of 2026, the deal should be completed in the upcoming winter transfer window. The clubs are currently negotiating the transfer fee, which according to Sky should be in the range of 1 million to 1.5 million euros. For Romano, however, there is talk of 3 million euros, which includes bonuses.
Haidara, who has played an important role for Leipzig in recent years without injury, is completely left out under coach Ole Werner. After muscular problems slowed him down at the start of the season, other players such as Nicolas Seiwald, Assan Ouédraogo and Xaver Schlager were given priority in central midfield, and Ezechiel Banzuzi is also ahead of Haidara in the pecking order. This season he is still waiting for his first appearance and is likely to receive a minus again in the upcoming market value update.
After seven years and 222 competitive games, they will most likely part ways in January. Haidara will leave for the Africa Cup of Nations with Mali in mid-December and can then play directly in Lens. The 1998 champions are currently leaders in Ligue 1 and one of the strongest teams in Europe: they have won eight of their last nine games – even though they are in twelfth place in the league’s squad value ranking.
