Raye sets new record – Music Rolling Stone

At the 44th BRIT Awards on Saturday, March 2nd, British singer Raye took home six awards. In doing so, she set a new record and even surpassed the previous record holders Harry Styles, Adele and Blur, each with four trophies on one award evening.

Raye won in six categories

Raye won awards for Best Album (for “My 21st Century Blues”), Best Song (for “Escapism”), Best Female Artist, Best New Artist and Best R’n’B Artist”. She also became the first woman in the history of the BRIT Awards to receive a pre-ceremony “Songwriter of the Year” honor.

During her final acceptance speech, the musician brought her grandmother onto the stage and tearfully announced: “You have no idea what this means to me.”
