Rare bacterial infection affects residential care centers in Leuven: two residents admitted to hospital

In two residential care centers in Leuven, residents were infected with a rare bacterial infection. It is about the STEC bacterium, a variant of E. coli that is usually transmitted through contaminated food. The Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FAVV) investigates the cause of the infection.
