The season isn’t over yet, but FC Bayern are already planning for next year. Now another personality has been determined.

Raphaël Guerreiro will leave FC Bayern in the summer. The German record champions announced this on Monday. The 32-year-old’s contract expires in the summer and will not be extended. Sports director Max Eberl explained: “We would like to thank Rapha for the time we spent together: Rapha was always reliable on the pitch, and characters like him enrich every dressing room.”

Guerreiro came to Munich from Dortmund on a free transfer in the summer of 2023. The versatile Portuguese was used both as a left-back and in the attacking midfield. With his outstanding technique and good overview, Guerreiro was always a weapon offensively, but defensively he lacked pace. He didn’t become a regular at FC Bayern, but was still an important support under coaches like Thomas Tuchel and Vincent Kompany.

He has currently played 89 games for FC Bayern and has been involved in 20 goals. It is not yet known where Guerreiro will go. However, Max Eberl made it clear that the left-footer’s thoughts are entirely focused on the rest of the season with Bayern. “The conversations with him were good, trusting and understanding. Now we are concentrating with him on our goals until the summer – we still want to achieve a lot together,” said Eberl.

In total, after almost ten years in Germany, Guerreiro has played almost 220 Bundesliga games and been involved in almost 90 goals. He won a championship title with FC Bayern and the DFB Cup twice with Borussia Dortmund. As a national player for Portugal, he also became European champion in the summer of 2016.
