Singer and actor Soy Kroon, Olympic swimming champion Ranomi Kromowidjojo and comedian and actor Nabil Aoulad Ayad, are taking part in the new season of the popular TV program Wie is de Mol (WIDM), which will be set in South Africa this time.
Broadcaster AVROTROS announced this on Saturday.
At the beginning of 2022, Kromowidjojo put an end to her top sports career. She is married to former top swimmer and Olympic champion Ferry Weertman. During their honeymoon in the United States, they visited Oregon, among others, inspired by the seventeenth season of WIDM, according to the broadcaster.
Soy Kroon from Eindhoven is a singer, presenter and actor. He became known to the general public for a role in Good Times, Bad Times. He also played the role of Jesus during The Passion.
Actor and comedian Nabil Aoulad Ayad is from Waalwijk. He played, among other things, in the soap opera Weg naar Morgen and participated in De Slimste Mens.
Presenter Froukje de Both, ELLE editor-in-chief Anke de Jong, actress Annick Boer, journalist Daniël Verlaan, presenter Jurre Geluk, presenter Sander de Kramer and actress Sarah Janneh are also among the candidates this year.
The 23rd season of the ratings cannon takes place in Cape Town, the mountains near the Tulbagh Valley and the vast semi-desert Karoo, among other places.
This year, fans could find out who the candidates are by solving puzzles in five different places in the country. After the announcement, there was immediately a lot of speculation on social media about who the mole is. “Ranomi Kromowidjojo has a good chance,” says Mol expert Peter de Bekker. “You have to be able to be tough and she can do that with her top sports mentality. But at the same time she can act very nice and laugh cheerfully.”
