Double Autumn Tone -winner, singer and writer Rainer Friman has done his gigs. In 2019, he officially ended his musical career due to health problems.

However, there are more than 600,000 sold recordings behind it.

– That’s enough. It’s a secret – hit has been especially memorable, Friman tells Iltalehte.

Friman, 65, opens up more about his health today.

– I have problems with my flat feet, the problem pulls my ankles crooked and walking is difficult. During the Corona period, diabetes also put Radio De’s programming on the shelf, I did the program for seven years. Worsening asthma, however, took away the singing career.

Today, Rainer lives in his new apartment in Salo and has a great time there. There is also a new book in the works, which will see the light of day in 2025.

– Books and now writing again keep me going. I read more than 10 hours a day and write for four hours every day. My new book will be published in 2025, it is about human well-being. Spirituality, human life, everyday life and celebration all go hand in hand.

Friman says he gets strength from his faith and theology studies.

Is there love in life?

– I love and believe in life, it gives strength. Books and writing are my love, says Friman good-naturedly.

Imitation noise

During the past week, Rainer Friman has been in the news headlines for his quarrel with Aki Palsanmäki. Friman was deeply hurt when Palsanmäki imitated the Romani way of speaking on TV.

– I’m offended, it’s racism. Things will not change if they are not addressed. If necessary, I intend to take the matter to the Public Speech Council. In my opinion, the channel Nelonen is also responsible for the content, but most of all Palsanmäki himself, Friman said calmly but decisively at his home in Salo.

Iltalehti reached Palsanmäki to comment on the situation.

– When an item is sold, there is quite a show going on, and I don’t know with what tone of voice I will sell it for each item. In no way have I meant to insult Rainer Friman when selling records, Palsanmäki commented.

In the end, Friman demanded a public apology from Palsanmäki.

– I have apologized to Rainer over the phone for my stupid behavior. I want to publicly apologize to Rainer Friman for my stupid behavior and it will never happen again, Palsanmäki told Iltalehte by phone.
