What started as a simple chat group with five friends, grew into a platform on which people from all over Belgium share how much rain has fallen with them. “Today we are on just under five liters of rain. That is always welcome for farmers, although it remains little for nature,” says Kris Morel.
After a rather quiet period, the group is active again. Members post figures and photos from, among others, Heule, Ypres and Koksijde. Not only farmers benefit from the info, also garden architects, people with outdoor parties or holidaymakers use the group to know if it has rained somewhere.
According to Kris it is an exceptionally dry year. “Every year we keep track of Geri’s predictions and compare them with our own measurements. This year it wasn’t really true.”
