Former England international Raheem Sterling drove his sports car into a guardrail on a highway in Hampshire on Thursday morning. The police have temporarily arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. Sterling has since been released on bail and investigations are ongoing.
Police said on Saturday: “No other vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported.” Sources close to the 31-year-old told the British news agency Press Association that Sterling had recently felt worthless and forgotten. After several difficult years, he continues to suffer from immense psychological pressure.

In terms of sport, the 31-year-old is in a transition phase. He terminated his contract with Chelsea FC at the beginning of the year and is still tied to Feyenoord Rotterdam until the end of June. He appeared in eight games for the Dutch club without scoring a goal.
Sterling scored 20 goals in 82 international matches in his career. He was part of the England team that reached the World Cup semi-finals in 2018 and the European Championship final in 2021. He began his career at Liverpool FC, moved to Manchester City in 2015 for 63.7 million euros and later also played for Chelsea FC and Arsenal FC.
