‘Rachel Hazes soap? That’s looking at bad luck!’

Hélène Hendriks thinks that a soap about Rachel Hazes will also attract a lot of disaster tourists. “We all like to watch an accident, we like that.”

The country is getting tired of her, but that completely passes her by: Rachel Hazes is now trying to sell a real-life soap to SBS 6. The theme? Her move to La Carihuela, Spain, where she took over a brasserie. Images are shown and on that basis the SBS top will decide whether they want it.

What does Johan think?

Want to watch our national fraternity diva for an hour every week? Are we looking forward to that? “Well, look, it’s the taste of bad taste. You see that fat gentleman at that campsite and he just attracts viewers. There are a lot of viewers who would like to see that vulgar man for a while and Mrs. Hazes…”, Johan Derksen analyzes in Today Inside.

He continues: “Yes, I think it’s a horror that person, you know. He has a fight with everyone, he has pocketed the inheritance, he has done the craziest things, begs for attention and Talpa gives her attention.”

Disaster tourists

Table guest Hélène Hendriks expects that the soap will attract many disaster tourists. “Yet as a viewer you are inclined to take out that snack, right, but also to watch. We all like to watch an accident, we like that.”

Johan: “It’s not an accident, it’s simple and above all very ordinary.”

Hélène: “Yes, but it is exactly the same with Peter Gillis, because either you are extremely irritated by how he behaves or you think: yes, I like it.”

‘Just do it’

Host Wilfred Genee finds Johan relatively mild. “So you say: just do it?”

Yes, says Johan. “Well, look, I think: Talpa is a commercial company and they should make programs that people watch and not care about the left-wing elite who put us here as a camping channel, you know. This is simply about making money, because they have to pay all those people.”

Commercial thinking

If SBS 6 actually does business with Rachel, Johan will support it. “We are not paid with tax money, so Talpa has to think as commercially as possible. She really bothers me, because every week she appears in the newspaper with a new riot, but perhaps a lot of people are interested in Mrs. Hazes.”

Can Talpa pass on the broadcast dates to Yvonne Coldeweijer? Of course, that soap is only fun if the croquette basher goes live on Instagram at the same time…
