The Ice Hockey Champions League, or CHL, is still not able to get masses of spectators moving in Finland.
Proof of this was seen on Wednesday, when Ilves hosted the German Bremerhaven Pinguins in the Nokia Arena.
Even though it was a decisive CHL playoff game, only 1,914 people showed up.
The capacity of the Nokia Arena for ice hockey matches is 12,700, so there was a lot of empty space in the stands on Wednesday.
Ilves beat Pinguins 5–2 and won the match with a total of 8–4. Swedish Erik Borg scored two goals for the tassel ears and stretched his scoring streak to seven matches already.
Ilves’ opponent in the CHL quarterfinals is Luleå of the Swedish league.
