Britain’s Queen Elizabeth, 96, is celebrating her 70th anniversary this year, with festivities beginning on Thursday and culminating over the weekend with major folk festivals, among other things.

On Thursday night, the Queen attended a light event at Windsor Castle, she says BBC. At the event, the queen touched an earth-shaped light placed on a pillow that lit a long series of lights.

This symbolizes the chain of light sent by the queen to the Trees of trees built in front of Buckinham Palace, whose lights came on. Prince William followed the lighting of lights at Buckinham Palace.
