Chantelle launches 100 percent recyclable collection in Germany

Chantelle has launched its 100 percent recyclable Chantelle One collection in Germany. The collection has been available in the German online shop since June, the French lingerie group announced on Wednesday. The sustainable concept had previously been successfully introduced in France.

The items in the Chantelle One collection use a special “solvent-free fiber that replaces the usual elastane” that is fully recyclable after use. The series is divided into two design concepts: Chantelle One Mesh and Chantelle One Lace. Three to four bra shapes were created for both design concepts, each of which is completed with two different panty shapes. In addition to the classic colors such as black and white, the laundry items are also available in pastel colors such as light purple, blue and yellow. Prices for bras are between 70 and 80 euros, with bottoms starting at 30 euros.

Customers can return the discarded laundry items from the Chantelle One series to Chantelle and in return receive a voucher that they can redeem in the online shop. The items then go through a recycling process in which they are melted down. The resulting mass is used to create microbeads, which are used to create accessories such as temples, clasps and buckles for new Chantelle One items. The same process is also used for the cutting waste that arises in production and is particularly high in the lingerie sector due to the many individual parts – up to 30% of the material is wasted during cutting, says Marta Krall, Head of Communication at Chantelle. The fully recyclable collection aims to counteract this problem.

“Sustainability has long been a key issue in our company. But with Chantelle One, we have now been able to launch something new that takes the whole issue of environmental protection, recycling and zero waste to a new level,” explains Renaud Cambuzat, Creation & Image Director at Chantelle.
