Quartet around Newcastle United on RCD Mallorca’s youngster Lee

World Cup participant with South Korea

The group of people interested in RCD Mallorca’s youngster Kang-in Lee (21) is becoming more concrete. The newspaper “mark” names Newcastle United, Aston Villa, FC Burnley and Feyenoord Rotterdam as possible buyers of the South Korean World Cup participant, where the interest is strongest. Previously, reporter Matteo Moretto (via “Relevo.com“) still vaguely reported by clubs from England and the Netherlands and spoke of a 90 percent probability that the variable offensive player will leave the Balearic Islands in winter.

There are no more in-depth discussions, and accordingly no concrete offer. In terms of price, however, the matter seems clear: there is talk of an exit clause of 17 million euros, which brought Lee to the attention of larger clubs. His contract in Mallorca is valid until 2025.

Lee joined the island on a free transfer in August 2021. After slight initial difficulties at Mallorca, he is the undisputed regular player this season and, with a total of six scorers, has played a major role in the Pirates’ successful season so far. With 22 points, RCD is also ahead of Lee’s struggling ex-club FC Valencia, where he has been trained since he was eleven. In 2019, at Los Che, Lee became the first 18-year-old to become the youngest South Korean in UEFA Champions League history.
