A smashed window at the dressing room, dozens of people who are going on the fist, several wounded and people with ice bags on their faces. A match between Rood-Wit 2 from Sint Willebrord and BSC 2 from Roosendaal got completely out of hand on Sunday afternoon.

In sports, it was nowhere about the ‘reserve teams’ of the amateur associations. And yet it was a loaded competition. “We didn’t want to play this game at all,” says a spokesperson for Rood-Wit. He does not want to be mentioned by name. That is asking for difficulties, he thinks. The clubs are just a little further than 10 kilometers apart.

“BSC has already rebuilt things at several clubs,” the spokesperson continues. “The last league match last season was not played because there was a danger for escalation. And two weeks ago the cup match between our teams was played, but striked. That is why there were votes within our board to never play against BSC again, but we did it anyway.”

“It was a drama that the linesman called against our boys.”

“At that cup match, their linesman went over the wrote,” the spokesperson for the visiting BSC parries the criticism. “It was a drama, what he all cried against our boys. That is why the linesman was not allowed to participate this competition.” The linesman of Rood-Wit informs Omroep Brabant that he himself made the choice not to flag during the competition.

During the first half, the BSC spokesperson took the height in Sint Willebrord to see if everything went smoothly. “But there was nothing wrong, so I went again,” he says.

In the second half, two players got it on and it got out of hand. “Everyone has fought this upset,” says the spokesperson for Rood-Wit about it. It’s terrible, he thinks. But he understands. “You stand for each other as a team.”

On images you can see how the audience storms on the field. “This is not happy with me,” says the man of the visiting BSC with a sense of understatement. “We were fourteen men and I only see people from Rood-Wit walking onto the field. With beer bottles and all. Those guests are crazy. I feel crazy. I don’t know the reason, because I wasn’t there. I should have stayed that second half? Maybe it had happened, I don’t know.”

“I noticed the team that they were a bit tame and anxious.”

A red-white father on the side sees it very differently. “I noticed the team that they were a bit tame and anxious. Some are not even 19 years old. They are not at all on a confrontation.” The man does not know if his son has fought. “I didn’t have a good view of it.”

There is a statement from red-white to the KNVB. “We can now find and think that BSC should never play again, but the KNVB decides,” says the spokesperson. “I hope they make a wise decision.”

BSC will have an emergency consultation on the incident on Monday evening.
