Germany is now officially receiving another competitor for the organization of the 2036 Summer Olympics – a financially strong.
At the International Olympic Committee (IOC) with the capital Doha, Qatar is applying for the games in eleven years, as the authorities of the golf state announced on Tuesday.
“The official application of the Qatarical Olympic Committee to organize the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games is a new milestone in Katars”, ” said Qatar’s prime minister Scheich Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani in a statement published by the state news agency.
Qatar because of Human rights violations criticized
Qatar was hosting the World Cup in 2022 and would be the first country in the Middle East to play the Olympic Games. The golf state is primarily at the center of the criticism of human rights organizations because of the working conditions and the violation of human rights.
Al-Thani, on the other hand, referred to Qatar “Proven track record in the successful organization of important international sporting events”, The country, which is rich in petroleum, already has “95 percent of the required sports infrastructure to align the games”.
Berlin, Munich, Hamburg and Rhein-Ruhr in the race
The German Olympic Sports Association (DOSB) is currently looking for the best national application concept – Berlin, Munich, Hamburg and Rhein -Ruhr. This is to be chosen in the second half of 2026, so the DOSB wants to apply for the IOC for the summer games 2036, 2040 or 2044.
The new IOC President Kirsty Coventry had declared at the end of June that the last used selection process of the hosts of the Olympic Games should be questioned.
