Putin discussed with Pashinyan compliance with the agreements on Nagorno-Karabakh

Russian President Vladimir Putin held telephone conversations with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and discussed with him the observance of the agreements between Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan on Nagorno-Karabakh, reported in the press service of the Kremlin.

“The exchange of views on issues of maintaining stability in the Nagorno-Karabakh region continued. The necessity of strict observance of the trilateral agreements of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia dated November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021 was confirmed.

On the night of November 10, 2020, Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed on a ceasefire in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh with the assistance of Russian peacekeepers. In accordance with the agreement, the city of Shushi (Shusha), as well as the Jabrayil, Fizuli, Lachin, Zangelan, Kalbajar, Aghdam and Kubatli regions and parts of the Hadrut and Martuni regions came under the control of Baku. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev called the agreement victorious, while Pashinyan called it forced.

In January 2021, Putin, Pashinyan and Aliyev signed an agreement to resolve the problems of the economy and transport infrastructure in Nagorno-Karabakh.

In November of the same year, the parties agreed to create mechanisms for the delimitation and demarcation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani borders and to strengthen stability and security in the area.
