Are you tired of the tour through the Westerpark or around the Zoetermeerse Plas? And can you blindly walk through the streets in the neighborhoods? Then it might be time to take a different walk. Good news: you can step onto one of the Dutch long-distance hiking trails from Zoetermeer!

Did you know that a total of 23 long-distance hiking trails (LAWs) run through the Netherlands? Together they form a network of 7,500 kilometers. One of those walks, the Roman Limespad, runs near Zoetermeer.

Along the Roman Empire

The long-distance Roman Limes Path runs along the historic frontier of the ancient Roman Empire. Part of that walk can be found near Leiden. The route is a total of 275 kilometers long and runs via Katwijk aan Zee to Nijmegen. You can walk the route over several days, but also in stages. Seen from Zoetermeer, you can choose, for example, the stages lime pad 02 (11.7 kilometers) or lime pad 03 (12.5 kilometers). If you travel this route you can [noem kleuren] follow markers.

The Dutch LAWs are part of the network of GR trails. The GR trails form a network of long-distance hiking trails across Europe, mainly in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Germany and Spain. GR are the initials of the route paths Grande Randonnee in France and Wallonia, and Major route paths in Flanders. In the Netherlands, the term LAW is therefore common for the GR paths. Regional path near Zoetermeer

In addition to the LAWs, there are also 21 regional paths in the Netherlands. These are often circular walks within one region. For some regional paths, the end point of the route is not the starting point. The length of the walking routes varies from 80 to 350 kilometers with the same starting and ending point. The routes are signposted in two directions with a yellow-red marking.

It is a regional path near Zoetermeer Groene Hartpad stage 1 between Zoetermeer and Delft (16.2 kilometers). It Green Hartpad stage 2 is 17.2 kilometers and runs through Zoetermeer and the beautiful polder landscape of the Weipoort. Time to get out the hiking boots!
