The German sporting goods provider Puma SE has filled a key position. On Tuesday, the company announced the appointment of Thomas John as vice president of people and organization. He succeeds Dietmar Knoess. Puma said he had decided to “take on new challenges outside the company”.
John will take up his new position on October 16th. In his future role, the 59-year-old will be responsible for Puma’s human resources strategy and organizational development and report directly to CEO Arthur Hoeld, the company said.
According to his future employer, John has “nearly three decades of human resources experience.” Over the course of his career, he has held management positions at companies from various industries. Most recently, he worked as Senior Vice President Global Human Resources at the energy management specialist Landis+Gyr; before that, he had already worked for well-known companies such as KLM, Adidas and Mann+Hummel.
Puma CEO Hoeld explained the personnel decision: “Thomas has a lot of experience in the areas of human resources strategy, organizational development and leadership and is very familiar with the challenges and opportunities in our industry,” he explained in a statement. “I am confident that his deep expertise in both organizations in transition and global human resources management will help us take Puma’s operational performance to the next level.”
