Puma appoints new Indian boss

Puma has appointed Karthik Balagopalan to the position of Managing Director for the Indian market.

He will take up his new position on August 1st and will report directly to Puma CEO Arne Freundt, the sports goods specialist from Herzogenaurach announced on Thursday. Balagopalan takes over for Abhishek Ganguly, who was with Puma in India for 17 years and has worked there as Managing Director since 2014. Abhishek left the company to start his own business.

Balagopalan comes from our own ranks. He was previously active as Global Director Retail and E-Commerce. Balagopalan started his career at Puma in 2006. Before being responsible for the global direct-to-consumer business, he held senior positions in retail and corporate development.

“India is a dynamic market where Puma has been the leading sports brand for many years. With Karthik, we will write the next chapter in this success story,” said Freundt. “I thank Abhishek for his energy and dedication over the past 17 years and I wish him all the best in his future as an entrepreneur.”
